Vacant Space Curators and Activators

Workspace and Community Hub in Hackney Wick

Spacecraft is a novel solution-focused practice, delivering creative, workspace and site activation strategies that craft places out of spaces.

We work closely with local councils, landowners and developers to deliver community-led projects and initiatives through simple, design-based, spatial and public realm interventions.

Community-led workspace solutions

The focus of our projects is always on the needs of the local community and how to work with our clients to translate those into a successful meanwhile scheme or vibrant new development.

We have experience in developing creative solutions for vacant and underused retail, industrial, office and cultural spaces across London.

Understanding workspace and high street challenges

Space and business planning for a vacant site

Vacancy and affordability are two of the key issues that are affecting businesses and local communities on one side and the development industry on the other. Our aim is to find solutions to these problems and bridge the gap between landlords and occupiers through devising novel operational models for underused properties, bringing affordable spaces on the market, increasing footfall and activating areas, while also supporting landowners/ developers to optimise the use of their premises.

Award winning, cost-effective solutions

Our projects include the award winning platform Spaceform, which won the London Mayor’s Resilience Fund to develop and promote our affordable workspace fit out model for activation of empty spaces - for more details see Spaceform.
